The Hyundai i20 hatchback has been around for well over a decade. Now the company has revealed what the third-generation of this successful hatchback will look like ahead of its debut on 3rd March at Geneva. The all-new i20 looks more premium than before and also sportier than ever with its athletic proportions. As far as dimensions are concerned, the Hyundai i20 is now 5 mm longer, 30 mm wider and 24 mm lower with a wheelbase that has been increased by +10mm.[gallery size="full" ids="15520,15513,15515,15511,15514"]The premium hatchback retains the wide and low stance and features a new honeycomb grille design along with a more pronounced bumper with fog lamps in triangular housing at the front. The i20 gets new distinct LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs. The profile gets a sportier roofline that adds to a driver-focused look and gets 16-inch top-spec alloys for added sportiness. In the back, Hyundai i20 boasts Z-shaped LED combination lamps, it also sports a completely new bumper with a faux diffuser and reflectors added onto the exterior ends of the rear bumper.
Inside, the new Hyundai i20 is confirmed to get a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch virtual instrument cluster clubbed together in the same panel. The 2020 Hyundai i20 will come with BlueLink connected car technology, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, climate control, a sunroof, a wireless phone charger and keyless entry with push-button start. Safety features are sure to include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and a rearview camera.
Powering the Indian spec third-gen Hyundai i20 could be BS6 line up of 1.2-liter petrol (83 BHP/114 Nm), a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol (120 BHP/173 Nm), and a detuned version of the Kia Seltos’ 1.5-liter diesel engine. Transmission systems will include a 5-speed MT and CVT. Meanwhile, the diesel and the turbo-petrol engine are offered with a 6-speed manual. The turbo-petrol is likely to get a 7-speed DCT auto option. Hyundai will likely bring the new i20 to India by mid-2020 and will rival Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz, Honda Jazz, and Volkswagen Polo.
